HDPE – High Density Polyethylene

HDPE (High-Density Polyethylene) is a stiffer and stronger variant of polyethylene. Due to its high strength-to-weight ratio, excellent chemical resistance, and long service life, it is used for piping systems, tanks, transport packaging, and technical parts.

Advantages

  • High strength
  • Very good chemical resistance
  • Low water absorption
  • Good wear resistance
  • Low cost
  • Excellent weldability
  • Good dimensional stability
  • Long service life

Disadvantages

  • Poorer transparency
  • UV sensitivity without stabilization
  • Lower heat resistance than engineering plastics
  • More difficult to paint
