LDPE – Low Density Polyethylene
LDPE (low-density polyethylene) is a soft, flexible, and tough plastic with very good chemical resistance. Due to its high flexibility, it is ideal for manufacturing films, bags, hoses, packaging, and insulation materials. Compared to HDPE, it has lower density, higher flexibility, and lower stiffness.
Advantages
- Very high flexibility
- Excellent chemical resistance
- Low density
- Low water absorption
- Good toughness
- Excellent processability
- Low cost
- Good electrical insulation
Disadvantages
- Lower strength
- Lower stiffness
- Lower operating temperature
- Poorer dimensional stability
