PBT – Polybutylene Terephthalate
PBT is a semi-crystalline engineering polyester with very good dimensional stability, low water absorption, and excellent electrical properties. Due to these properties, it is among the most frequently used materials for electrical engineering, the automotive industry, and connector technology.
Advantages
- Low water absorption
- Good dimensional stability
- Excellent electrical insulation
- Good chemical resistance
- Good heat resistance
- Low shrinkage
- Good surface appearance
- Easy injection molding
Disadvantages
- Lower toughness than PA
- UV sensitivity without stabilization
